Most window cleaning sites tell you their windows will be “crystal clear” without explaining how. Here’s the actual process, and the reasoning behind it.

Interior Cleaning

Interior glass is cleaned with a traditional applicator-and-squeegee method: an applicator loosens dirt across the glass, a squeegee pulls the water and grime off in clean passes, and a lint-free detail cloth catches the water that collects in the corners and edges. This is a fast, controlled method that doesn’t risk water damage to interior sills or floors.

Exterior Cleaning: Pure Water System

Exterior glass is cleaned with a deionized, mineral-free water system on an extendable pole. Here’s why that matters: tap water carries dissolved minerals that dry into visible spots on glass, which is why a garden-hose rinse never actually leaves windows spotless. Deionized water has those minerals filtered out, so it dries completely clear — no spotting, no streaking, and results that last noticeably longer than a standard squeegee-and-tap-water approach.

Why Not Vinegar or Windex?

Both leave a light residue behind that actually attracts dust and grime faster, which is part of why DIY-cleaned windows often look dirty again within days. They’re reasonable for a quick touch-up between professional visits, but they don’t match a pure-water system for a real, lasting clean — especially in a hard-water area.

Screens and Tracks

Screens are removed and washed, not just wiped or shaken out. Tracks and sills are cleared of debris — this is where grime actually accumulates fastest, and it’s the step a rushed job skips first.
